Attention Houstonians...
« on: March 29, 2009, 07:05:05 PM »
I just returned from the Sugar Land location of Half-Price Books and found four of the BCI DVD sets for $9.98 each.  These are new, not used.

Password: 1962-1967 (4-disc set)
TPIR
All-Star Family Feud
Match Game

Most of the sets weren't in the regular "TV Shows on DVD" section -- they were located in other areas around the store.  The TPIR and MG sets were in a wire carousel and the Password set was in the an endcap.  (The Feud set was actually in with the other TV shows.)

Enjoy!

As of tonight, the Half-Price Books in Fremont, Calif., has about a half-dozen copies of each of the four titles on display.

Thanks for the tip!

Hmm. I was just in the neighborhood of my local Half-Price today, even. Damn. Maybe I need to go back tomorrow. I'd pay $10 for those.

No HPB in my immediate area, but...

...That might be just enough reason to make a stop in Phoenix, en route to Tucson, later this week during our vacation.  My wife is into game shows, so a 10-mile detour off of I-10/17 for something like this will be acceptable! :)

Thanks for the heads up!

Nice! We have a Half-Price Books here in the Tacoma, WA area up near the Tacoma Mall, my family and I are leaving on vacation tomorrow for the Oregon Coast but when we get back I may have to check out the HPB up here. Also, the last time I went to Half-Price Books here they had copies of the WWTBAM DVD game and Name That Tune 80's edition DVD game so they do have Game Show stuff every now and then.

I am, in a matter of a few minutes, going to check the one down in the U District here in Seattle. I shall report back.

I stopped by a pair of Half Price Books in the Cleveland area this afternoon.  They didn't have any of the BCI box sets.  Here's what they did have...

*  Match Game: Dumb Dora Edition--$5
*  That somewhat recent collection of public domain game shows and kiddie shows--$10
*  Merv Griffin's Crosswords for the PC--$8
*  Let's Make a Deal DVD game--$3 (snagged one, because I doubt I'll find a better price)

They had this at both of mine (Lynnwood and U District) as well. Goose-egg on the BCI sets.

The DVD sets are now at at least one Cleveland-area Half Price Books store, which makes me think this might be a nationwide deal.  The Mentor, OH store had multiple copies of each of the BCI box sets.  Match Game, TPiR, and Password were $9.99 each, and there were at least 5 copies of each title available.  All Star Family Feud was $7.99, and there are now 2 copies left since I snagged one.

Did they just get there or did you just look? I'm wondering if it might be worth checking mine again.

I went there since I was in the area.  I did not call ahead.

Right, and had I looked at scrollback I would have answered my own question, as you had indeed looked previously. :) I'm a 'tard. :)

Blargh. Far too many chains have a habit of having stores in all the states bordering Michigan, but not Michigan proper. Half Price Books included.

Could be worse...you couldn't have any surrounding New Jersey.
