Yes, because the last thing CBS wants to do is keep a show that finishes first in total viewers and second in coveted adults (to football) in its time period.

I mean, I'm just baffled as to why it was dumped in the first place.  Seems like its performance and its cost and its opportunity to pimp other CBS shows would make it extremely attractive.

"MILLION DOLLAR PASSWORD" RETURNS TO CBS ON SUNDAY, MAY 24

MILLION DOLLAR PASSWORD, hosted by Emmy Award winner Regis Philbin, returns to Sundays (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) beginning May 24, on the CBS Television Network.

Last summer, in its Sunday (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) time period, MILLION DOLLAR PASSWORD (5.9/10, 9.03m) was first in viewers and second in adults 25-54 (2.4/07). The shows' return in December averaged 10.11m viewers, placing second in its time period behind Sunday night football.

I can only assume this is a burnoff, the Garlin/Handler and Kennedy/McDonald plus maybe some reruns.

Mike (sodboy), feel free to jump up and squeal at any time. :)

If the 18-34s aren't there, it's not successful enough for anyone. I mean, who cares if the four episodes, in a "real" season (as opposed to the summer season) finished in the top 25 for the week and if the viewership grew with each episode.

Even if it's just a "burnoff", glad to see it return...who knows, maybe it's not quite dead after all!

Yeah, looking back, I'm not quite sure if Sundays at 8 is really a "burnoff" slot.

I'm not in the demographic CBS is looking for, but the only way I would get excited over game shows again is if they are live.  No editing, no fitting the game play to time out just right, no stopdowns, etc.  If they go over hour allotted, upload the show to an on-demand service or run a crawl during "Cold Case.".  Contestants waiting months or years to get paid is not cool.

I can't imagine CBS is thinking of this over the long haul if Reege is set to host Millionaire on ABC again in three months.

The last episode they aired had ads for a direct-sales Elvis DVD. Make of that what you will.

The schedule has been posted and it now appears at the top of the post. You may begin retroactively wishing Mike (sodboy13) good luck! :)
And maybe the ending of my episode will change in reruns... ;)

So on Memorial Day weekend, if we choose to watch, tape or Tivo MDP, we can see Shatner stumble while switching podiums and make a fool of himself all over again. If it was still played the way it was in the 60s, he would've had a fighting chance.

Right. I'll re-post a story about Shatner that I originally posted in early February.

I recently had a discussion with someone who was present at the taping of the Million Dollar Password episode with Aisha Tyler and William Shatner. That episode is known for Aisha's superb gameplay and Shatner's horrid gameplay. We discussed how poorly he had played here at the forum... but this person let me in on something else from that tape day. This is verbatim from our conversation:

The only weird thing I can really think of to mention about that day, is that there was a woman, who was a champion on Super Password in the late 80's... who got to play w/Shatner and the other celeb... Aisha Tyler. It was such a slaughterhouse -- she somehow made it to the end game with Shatner by some miracle, but he played so badly, that she could not even win at the $10,000 level. And they let her try twice. It was just pitiful. After the second attempt, all of a sudden they cleared the end game set up and started setting up for the next game, and she just... disappeared. No "oh wells," no goodbyes.

So, yeah. Even with the two tries at $10,000 rule, Shatner could not get five out of ten with his contestant in the end game. I couldn't imagine failing spectacularly with Shatner, TWICE, and then not having any TV time to show for it!  I just thought this would be a nice tidbit to add in addition to what actually made the cut. I met this lady at our boot camp and I think she deserved much better than what she got.

Well, maybe they can re-edit that show and include her round, thus giving her the face time on TV she didn't get last time.  They could even call it a "new" episode.
Let's Make a Deal was the first show to air on Buzzr. 6/1/15 8PM.
