Any GSCs planned for 2009?
« on: April 30, 2009, 08:31:53 PM »
In our last episode back in the late spring/early summer of 2008, we were told that due to various economic reasons (and $4 gas prices) that the Game Show Congress was scrubbed for 2008, but perhaps return on '09 as an every other year event.

Has anyone heard if there will be an '09 Congreff?  or is anyone planning a localized Game Show Convention of some sort?

I have some vacation days to be used, and am looking to see if a trip to LA, or elsewhere, may be in the offing.

Sadly there has been ZERO talk by the originator, innovator and conventionator, Paul Bailey. I don't blame him, as it was such a huge undertaking with no profit to show when the smoke cleared.

But if someone wants to start something smaller and more controllable, count me in to help!

Congratulations on stirring up the pot.
There's preliminary talk of something for mid October.

Don't call Greyhound yet. More info to come   ;-)

No doubt Gordon and I and the rest of the Game Show Tournament crew would be able to use your help, Ethan.

This is very good news, gents and ladies.

You heard the man....KEEP STIRRING!!!  It's not soup yet!!!  :)

This would be a great opportunity.  Originally, I thought I'd have to drive, but we just got non-stop service (albeit only twice a week) to LAX on El Cheap....er, Allegiant Air. So maybe the stars and the moon are starting to align.

/You think I could still catch the tail end of Bob Stewart's conversation??

In olden days, writing styles were such that sometimes the letter "s" looked like what we now call the letter "f."  So the word "Congress" would look like the word "Congreff" (or even "Congrefs").  I can't remember who among us started writing it that way as a joke (might've been Don Howard but if it wasn't I humbly apologize), but among several of us the spelling stuck.
