The actual Pyramid Winner's Circle clock sound effect
« on: May 18, 2009, 06:07:23 AM »
I've always wondered, is there any place online where you can find or download the actual Pyramid Winner's Circle clock sound effect? By this, I mean not the usual, spliced together version of the sound effect where you only hear the same two notes repetitively (http://www.qwizx.com/gssfx/usa/tick.wav). I mean the full, sixty-second cycle of the original flute and rimshot (?) as heard on The $10,000-$100,000 Pyramids from 1973-1991. I figured it could be somewhere on the Web, since I heard the original in this YouTube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7m7sxXfmkbc...re=channel_page. Any help at all would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Josh

I was thinking about this not long ago, too. Thanks! One of the most glaring travesties of Donnymid is that they didn't use this effect (or at least use it in the mix).

Extra credit to anyone who can explain why the original track runs for 90 seconds, instead of 60, and how many categories there were to be played until the last minute format change   ;-)

If that was one of the most glaring travesties in your mind, you clearly need to get your game show priorities straight.

I meant, besides the writing, the set, the celebrities, the host and the rule changes, one of the most glaring travesties was not using the classic and still terrific sound effect.

Odd... didn't come off that way.  Besides - you would think that the Donnymid producers would keep something that would cross the two generations over.  Guess not.

It's been well-documented that the Donnymid producers didn't exactly prioritize not-fixing-what-wasn't-broken-and-in-fact-was-rather-iconic when they were putting together the Keys To Success(tm) for their show.
