If you're watching such a skit for accuracy, you're trying way too hard.

"Stay tuned for Celebrity Press Your Luck with guest Roman Polanski" made me laugh out loud real hard. Everything else, like almost everything SNL the past decade, was not that good.

One of the things that has historically made their game show skits work is a fundamental understanding of the genre (or specific game) they're spoofing. They've done Family Feud "right" before, it was just a dreadfully long time ago.

I see how this got past the pitch meeting. It's a one-joke premise, but it's a GREAT one joke. ("See, Mackenzie Phillips is on Family Feud, and one of the questions is 'Name something you do with your dad'!") The problem is that to this generation, classic Feud (and for that matter, Donny and Marie's bickering) is ancient history. Mostly, that just makes me feel old. I also wouldn't give it an 'A' for humor.

/Something else that makes me feel old: Not completely realizing that those really were Lady Gaga and Madonna catfighting in the music show skit.

While watching the sketch, a thought crept into my mind: "Somebody is totally gonna pick this apart on GSF". I knew someone wouldn't disappoint.

For some reason, I lol'd hard at the uneven strike boxes, which were just as gaudy on the original version.

But the Combs Feud theme for a 1981 show? WTF?!?!/1?

/Seriously, good stuff...loved the "other Osmond" getting a strike before he even spoke

Me too, cause they did get it right in the title card.

It took them too long to get to the "Something you do with your dad" line, and the Osmond side really didn't do much for the sketch. Although the sketch was a one trick pony, I thought the Richard Dawson impersonation was funny. The Roman Polanski line had me laughing, too.

You know, my wife asked about this as she briefly saw the opening. I wasn't looking at the screen, but I can tell her she was right about it. That is bad.

I said it's easily the worst executed FF sketch I can recall on SNL. No opportunity to steal, which they've previously gotten right. Other members of both families (Ken Osmond, who actually did appear on a FF special; Bijou and Chynna Phillips) could have been used. They didn't even bother to put survey numbers after the answers, which they previously did right. (I thought the Roman Polanski bit was a clever add-on.) For that matter, they could have used those extra family members to keep it at five per team instead of four.

Incidentally, Donny and Marie Osmond are sort of an ironic choice for the other team. In the early 1980's, SNL had a couple of sketches where Donny and Marie ended up making out!

I figured it was really Lady Gaga, only because she was the musical guest. My wife had to tell me that it was Madonna.
