Have you noticed that the showcases on Price is Right are using a lot of round numbers lately?  One of today's showcases came to $69,700.  I've seen a number of shows in the past few months where one of them ended in x00.

It seems odd it would happen so many times in such a short time span.  Since most people bid in round numbers, I wonder if the show would like to see another perfect bid sometime soon?

Also, in the past few days, both Showcases have at least broken the $30K mark, with quite a few them even breaking $60K.

Not only that, the *other* showcase (which consisted of two trips and a car) came out to exactly $40,250.  Someone bidding a very flat $40,000 would have had a 'neat' DSW on their hands there.

Which, of course, begs the question of just what's going on with their prize budget if they're putting a $100,000 carrot in front of people like that...

They are on pace to give away nearly $12M this season.

S38 - $12M
S37 - $12.25M
S36 - $12.5M
S35 - $11.5M
S34 - $11.2M
S33 - $11.25M

Seems like the budget hasn't exactly changed that much from season to season, even with inflation factored in.

Interesting, especially considering that it seems like the pricing games have become a lot harder to win lately.  All those designer items are pretty tough to price, heck, even luxury cars (like that Mercedes they offered last week) usually turn out to be a lot more expensive than people think they are.  So I guess even though there are fewer winners, the average value of the prizes offered has increased.

I had caught part of today's show (4/5) and saw that Danger Price was using the cheapest prize as the DP.  Don't they usually go for one of the two middle-priced prizes?

IMHO, today's DP was a gimme.

That would be pretty much my conclusion.  Just look at the Showcases in general.  They rarely are under $20,000 anymore and somebody wins one 90-95% of the time.

As for Showcases ending in "00," I think there's less to that than people think.  Showcases have to end in something, and "00" is just as plausible as "83" or "25" or "26" or "04"
