I recalled at that incident which it did happened during its first season, but now thinking vaguely of the difference, I believe it was each contestant had in their bids either $326 or $325 away from the ARP of their own showcases.

Sounds right, I seem to recall it being between $250 and $350.

Few? Obviously you didn't see much of Doug Davidson's version. The echo (echo echo) showcase is a great example, as is a showcase with quite a few double entendres, as Burton was caught reading a Harlequin romance-like novel when he was to be describing showcase prizes.

You may be thinking of the daytime show, as a $326/$325 pair happened late in Season 1. The nighttime tie, which I think Kenneth Johannessen told us about (although I can't find the post), had the difference as $537.
