Ray Combs, Jr. is looking for fast money
« on: November 28, 2010, 01:04:09 AM »
Searching around the web tonight I somehow stumbled upon this video of Ray Combs, Jr. explaining his desire to make a documentary about his and his fathers lives and is looking for $3,000 of financial backing to make it happen.

I'm just not quite sure what to think of this. Thoughts?

At first I thought "I can imagine this guy has some demons he could stand to exorcise, and if this is the way he chose to go about it, I hope he gets the opportunity because it could be healthy for him."

Then I read:

Quote
On the more darkly comedic side I hope to:

Interview Richard Dawson, Louie Anderson, Richard Karn, that guy from Seinfeld, (emphasis mine: dude, his name just isn't that hard to look up) and Steve Harvey to get their perspective on what I am not quite sure but it should be interesting.
Ask Steve Harvey If I can have my dad's old job since I am out of work and he has like 5 jobs.
Go to Game Show Network and attempt to gain a job as a host based solely on bloodline.
...and stopped caring.

As for the last paragraph... as much as I am sure he'd like to get a job at GSN or any game show, it's an attempt at humor as well as brutal honesty.

I think Ray Combs Jr. could host a show like Family Feud, however, he looks and sounds so much like his father, I think some fans that remember his Dad might get an eerie sense of deja vu.

Having had a look at the tote board/backer tally/countdown within the linked material, what happens if he collects his 3000th dollar at 6:35pm EST on December 20th? It's a no-go because the holy deadline of 6:33pm wasn't reached?
$50 and you get a hug, eh? From him or one of the cheerleaders his dad boinked?
From having examined the comment section, it's good to know he has the support of Jan and Jen...The Begg Sisters.

If you think he's carrying a lot of baggage now, just wait until he's replaced by Gary Dawson in 6 years.

Yikes...this looks like an attempt to "avenge" his father's death to me.

Pretty feeble attempt. Seriously, what's the least bit even uncomfortably funny about sticking a mic in Steve Harvey's face and asking him that question?

Chris is right. Dude has more issues than National Geographic.

Yes. That's how Kickstarter works. None of the pledges are collected on unless the goal is met before the deadline. The second 6:33PM hits, assuming deadline isn't met, everything disappears into the ether.

I'm reminded of a line I heard on an SVU rerun last night: "He didn't just have issues, he had a subscription."

Wow. Somebody made a HUGE (or bogus) donation. As of today, he's only $80 short.

I tried Kickstarter last year for my show...that didn't go too well. The frustrating thing about the site is that odd, off-the-wall projects like Ray Jr.'s make money hand over fist.

Boggles my mind.

Well, he's up to $3,120, so it looks like we'll see something from him eventually.
I'm hoping he takes it more seriously and steers further away from trying to push what he considers his sense of humor. I doubt that will happen, but one can hope.
