The only possible thing I would consider as a con to giving up a regional show for a national show is "Job Security"... working in a small area,
Fair point, if the "small area" weren't the Number One market in the country.
versus, a national gig where, if you don't pull in the ratings your show's buyers were anticipating in the big markets, you could very well find yourself picking up a copy of "Variety" and looking at the "Help Wanted" section...
Also a fair point if they were giving him his own new show for the fall like they gave to Anderson Cooper or something, instead of making him second banana to Kelly Ripa on a 25-year-strong national stalwart backed by The Mouse. Honestly, I'm not sure how syndicated talk host jobs GET more secure without your name being Oprah.
