Anyone know the status of the syndicated season that Gary Owens hosted?

It probably still exists.

When USA was rerunning the 1970s era from 1984-1987, didn't they show both the daytime and first-run syndicated editions on an alternating basis?

I don't believe so, but the only reasoning I have to back that up is "I always thought the Owens version was a novelty and so I'd like to think I would have remembered if this were the case."

USA did run the nighttime version, but from after Chuck took over as host. To my knowledge, they never ran any Owens episodes.

I don't think they ever ran it either.  One of the five John Barbour episodes, yes.
