Wheel in Phoenix
« on: January 11, 2004, 05:45:54 AM »
Wheel of Fortune is taping shows this weekend at the Dodge Theatre in Phoenix (Arizona used to send contestants to Powerball: TGS, BTW). The three weeks of shows air next month. The media in Phoenix have been covering the show's tapings; one said that WOF will bring in about $2 million to the city's economy (gee, when will Cincinnati get a turn?)

   100 plus 100 equals 600?

We want some more pro wrestling (STILL) and NASCAR questions!
The leaves start to change color in May?

Why do you want more pro wrestling and Nascar questions?  Where do you want them, and what will you do with them when you get them?

 More importantly:

Why do you care?
Why do ask him every time he posts?

ObGameShows: I'm beginning to see why PYL's ratings started to go down.........

Hardly "every time" - I've asked twice.

He's asked for the information countless times here and elsewhere.  And then doesn't respond to questions about it.  (until just now in another thread)

Don't ask, because he'll never answer.  I'm sure he doesn't know himself.  If he thinks its funny and cute, let him amuse himself.

EDIT:  I stand corrected, even though I still don't get it.  Eh, I don't really care that much, though.

The Dodge Theatre? Is that the same place where they taped Wheel in 1997, the same week the new puzzleboard debuted?

In response to "melman 1"s query in this thread:

It's his usual "signature line" that he settled on a few years ago when he decided there weren't enough questions about pro wrestling and NASCAR being asked on various game shows -- sort of like the "gag tags" I put after my sign-offs for my own posts on this board.

(For example, while on the subject of NASCAR: How about pitting NASCAR drivers Tony Stewart and Jimmy Johnson against each other during the next "NASCAR Week" on Pyramid?  That one should be a dandy -- the driver of the Home Depot #20 car against the driver of the Lowe's Home Improvement Warehouse #48 car!)

Where it was also suggested that you set it up as a real "signature" so that those of us who don't want to see it, don't have to.  Hoping you will comply.

IIRC, it was the time that they retired the old trilon board... the final segment had the board reading "FOR SALE"

Cheers,

Ryan :)

Oh, I remember that! I laughed when I saw that!

Heck, the week after THAT, they showed some clips of the dismantling of the old puzzleboard and the making of the new one!

Even better, when Pat himself tried to do the touching of the letters, it failed! I wonder why...

Perhaps the board is encoded to activate only under Vanna's precise skin temperature, and Pat's is a little off.

No, it's actually gender-specific.  Only a female touch will activate the letters.

(There, that should keep gameshowguy2000 AND GSWitch busy for a while.)
This has been another installment of Matt Ottinger's Masters of the Obvious.
Stay tuned for all the obsessive-compulsive fun of Words Have Meanings.

Any guess as to which direction?
