Final J!
« on: February 08, 2015, 05:28:54 PM »
My roommate was wondering what the odds are of the winner of the game was the leader going into Final J! Has anyone done the math?

You can't really compute odds for something like that, but you see how many times it has happened over a sample size. For the first twenty games of the current season, the leader at the end of Final Jeopardy won the day twelve times, lost seven and was co-champion once.

I'm not usually one to correct things, but that typo amuses me. The leader at the "end of Final Jeopardy" would win 100% of the time. 12 out of 20 surprises me a bit. Perhaps a better stat would be to figure out how often the leader wins in a non lock-out situation.

D'oh! At the end of Double Jeopardy, not Final. Got a little herp in my derp there, and yes, there were a handful of cases where the game was a lockout at that point.
