Nobody's mentioned this, but today is the one-year anniversary of the last ABC episode of Who Wants to be a Millionaire.

Although ABC announced that WWTBAM would return as a series of specials and \"short bursts\", the last Regis-hosted episode aired one year ago tonight (to an audience one-fourth of what it was during its peak).

Lest we forget that one of the TPIR primetime specials was up against the finale of Regis WWTBAM, and TPIR finished 9th or 10th for the week IIRC, well above WWTBAM.

I hope it returns as specials during next season, it was a great show... and the syndicated version sucks.

It's suprising that there is a bandwagon of Meredith fans. Granted, she does an ok job, it is some the same without the Reeg hosting.

While i miss the Regis version, I really like the Merideth version and think she does a good job.  I'm happy that it's coming back for a second season.

I remember very well the excitement when Regis' version first started.  It seems that *everyone* was watching it, and personally, I couldn't wait for each episode.  During its peak I felt like I was going through all the emotions the contestant was.  It's too bad that had to die off - I'm so happy that I've got the tapes of the show that I do, but I guess you can never relive the original excitement.

Granted, I've only seen one episode while I was on vacation and a clip of the first $1M win on her watch (syndie WWTBAM doesn't air where I live).  But I'd say she does more than \"an ok job\".

She's no Reege, no question about it.  But, she does root for the contestants and is really down to earth.  I knew Meredith would handle this gig as a total pro.

She knows darn well this is really Reege's show.

If she were given the hosting gig on a revival of \"Password\", Meredith would totally understand that podium really belongs to Allen Ludden (not that this would ever happen in the real world...but hopefully you catch my drift).
