So Shatner can play the Winner's Circle by himself, but Jay and Bob is no joy. Sounds to me like someone in the S&P department was having a bad day.

The bit that made it to air was funny enough (although it shows how the one-word-at-a-time concept could potentially become bad television, esp. with a civilian), but yeah, I think the version Jay proposed would've been pretty damn hilarious.

Sucks that S&P couldn't have a sense of humor about it.

That's what I thought too. Wonder if that inspired Bob to add that little wrinkle to the concept to create Go?

I don't think Shatner was playing for charity when he did that bit.
