If you never went to a taping of H2, you're missing some classic items to be removed from tape.  (I, again, refuse to spoil the final week, but there was more than once things said will get edited out of the final product and/or bleeped)

However, Gong was a show that frequently had Barris bleeped for using the s--- bomb a few times, among his panelists.

I remember Chuck Henry let out a censored word toward the end of his version of "Now You See It" following a bonus round loss.  I couldn't even make out what it was by lip-reading.  He quickly added that he'd probably just hosted his last show for letting slip that one word.

In that case, there was a question on what comic strip featured the character of Linus.  What caused the bleep was that while circling the the word "Peanuts," Chuck said the first syllable of the word "Peanuts" with the last syllable of "Linus"
It wasn't the first time Jim let off an H-bomb on NBC.  During his speech at the end of the original Card Sharks series, he said he was going to get the h--- out of the way.
I had no problem with that. Pery leaving the stage let me get my face on TV for a few extra seconds...

I can handle it, I just choose not to (freedom of speech, right?).  Of course, my anti-obscenity stand was what forced me out of ATGS...

on the 7/18/78 episode (the final week of the NBC run), they had trouble raising the "GONG" wall/curtain. Barris walked over and slammed a walking stick right through the curtain, which took him by surprise (of course, this could have all been planned). After letting out a choice expletive which got bleeped, he went ahead and used the cane to destroy the rest of the curtain while Mother McKenzie went nuts.

Also, on the final ep, Chuck offered a rendition of the Johnny Paycheck tune "Take This Job and Shove It"...an *entire part of the song* had to be "OOPS!"-ed out.

No one mentioned JD's "budget shot to hell" comment on his Squares run when four bonus rounds were won in one week.

I thought that comment was made on the last ep of Time Machine, no?

Why are "Hell" and "damn" thought of as milder swear words than those dealing with bodily functions or parts? Logically, for example, "damn you" should be infinitely worse than "fuck you".

Last time I checked, words such as penis and vulva were not considered swear words--if, of course, they are used in the proper context.  They are, however, words you learn in anatomy class.
However, when you get to using synonyms for the aforementioned words, that's when you get into edgy territory.

As for your "damn" comment, my interpetation is that you feel condemenning someone to hell is worse than "f*** you".  While I'm somewhat inclined to agree, the mainstream media seems to say otherwise.

That's not the *only* time that "digit" got OOPS-ed.  As the "audience claps with Chuckie" bit was catching on in November/December 1977, Barris every once in a while would pull out a box and show it only to the studio audience.  Chuckie openly lamented not being able to use it during a late 12/77 episode (the only one from that week that GSN was able to clear for air) when he said to the audience after one of those clapping bits, "They won't let me do what I used to do."

Well, this isn't a real game show, but the Chappelle's Show skit "I Know Black People" has Dave (the host) commenting that a "chickenhead is a woman that likes to suck (bleep!)."

Speaking of which, on game shows hosted by African-Americans, have contestants ever used the "N" word to describe the host on one occasion?

Do you really believe that if a contestant had been moronic enough to do that, that the producers would have left it in the show and it actually would have been aired?
