TPIR Hoopla: Boring

I'm a newbie to the board.....so pardon me if this has been covered on another thread.

I used to be a big TPIR fan, but can't stand the show anymore. The music is horrid, the firings of all the models has really ruined any camaraderie on the show, and why they are so cheap that they won't even show the announcer is beyond me. I've stopped watching --- but it seems like I am in the minority.

I keep waiting for Janice/Holly/Claudia, etc. to comment or write a book about what happened, but nothing has appeared, except the E true Hollywood story.

Would welcome reading other perspectives/opinions, etc.

Claudia wasn't fired, she left the show under her own choice.  I do think rotating announcers is annoying, but I don't really mind rotating models.  I just wish Teri would be in the rotation more.

Does anyone know why she chose to leave? I have read that she said that working on the show had become unbearable.......but have no further details.

Randy?

Well, the overall TPIR atmosphere has changed in the last five-ten years. I don't think the show is "unwatchable", but it is getting close...
I think I started to lose interest when they changed the set. Those are some ugly colors! Not to mention the firings of all the classic models, Rod's death (RIP), retiring superball, over-playing plinko (retiring that cool sign), etc....

But it is one of the better things in daytime.

  • Just leave the set; that’d be terrific.

Numerous things.

Combination of Rod's death (they were very good friends), consistent model rotations, etc...

She was going to be put on a rotating basis before she decided to leave.

Enjoy lots and lots of backstage TPIR photos and other fun stuff here. And yes, I did park in Syd Vinnedge's parking spot at CBS

Oh Lux. I don't know why I'm saying anything when the message I want to convey is "I'm not saying anything". It was a combination of things, some touched on by Chris in the post just above.

Suffice it to say, I found Claudia to be a real sweetheart - a dear and sensitive soul with a playful personality. I will never forget how she came on stage with me to draw the door prize winner just after the College MDS, which was her last show. The other models insisted she be the one to do that ritual that day. It was obvious that she wanted to tell the studio audience how much she enjoyed being a "Barker Beauty", but she began to sob uncontrollably. The other girls joined her on stage and the audience showed her a lot of love. It was a very touching moment.

While it seems that a lot of viewers miss her, I'm sure Claudia is doing well.

Tell the truth, Randy... Claudia was an agent for the Mossad and when Bob found out her true identity, she had to go into hiding. :-)

There were rumors of a tell all book shortly after Janice's departure.

Not sure how much truth there was to that, but I had heard a few years back that she had signed an agreement that would prevent her from doing something like that. Can't confirm that though.

Besides, I'm sure she would find a way to make half the book about Fritz.

I'm pretty sure she's Livin' Large.

(off to the TTD 90 room for me)

Anyway Luxo, I completely understand how you feel. I don't agree, but I understand. I wish that some people would see past some of the background stuff and try to enjoy the games and kooky kontestants...and try to enjoy the show. Besides...most of those cuts would have happened soon anyway.

In fact, it's believed that she was involved in the disappearance of Janice's first husband.

(One remark about that being the wrong country and I break-a you face. ;-)

Y'know the GSN original Marianne Curan hosted, "When Did That Happen?"  I suggest that you try out for her upcoming sequel... "What Will Never Happen?" ;-)

That's my point....the show isn't the same anymore....it's play game, commercial, play game, commercial, etc. I miss when Bob would interact with Rod and the models, etc. I remember the days when he would say: "Girls, come out here...." and they would chat. Now the show has more commercials than ever, and has lost its zing....
