Calling all MG7X fans!

In case you were caught unawares, GSNŽ has dusted off episodes of Match Game 73 and returned them to the schedule last month. You can catch it every Mon-Fri @ 3 p.m. Eastern.

By now they've already gone through the first 2 weeks on CBS and reached Week 3---the one which saw the debut of future MG regulars Brett & Charles.

Did they show all of week 2?  If memory serves, they have skipped #7 (obviously, the second show of week 2) several times, although I know they showed it right after Dark Period #1 ended.

They showed four episodes of week 2.

I think I read here or at ATGS that GSN is not airing certain MG73 episodes because of gay references in them, like the "I think Batman and Robin are ____." episode. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

That week of shows began airing last Wed., Thurs. and Fri.
I was expecting to tune in MG73 again on Sunday evening... however, it seems that GSN has changed the weekend schedule *yet again*, to air MG73/76 at 3 PM (same as the weekdays) on both Sat. and Sunday.  I guess that's a good thing, however I missed yesterday's shows since I didn't know they were on.

If the first show of Week 5 airs today, then we can assume that GSN only showed 4 episodes from Week 4, skipping the so-called "offensive" episode.

p.s. As I mentioned, they only showed 4 episodes from Week #2.  I can't find any explanation of why one episode was skipped (other than what rigsby said above).  Usually if shows are skipped, they're in multiples of 3 since the master tapes held 3 shows each.

They must have shown episode #7 on GSN at least once, because I know someone has it in his collection. I'm guessing it was right after the Dark Period, because when I got GSN, they were starting week 4 on a Monday, which means they were still airing the shows on a normal Monday-through-Friday basis.

Correct on both counts.  If I ever get the time to do so, I'll check my tape and see if anything offensive comes out.  (no pun intended)

Watched #7 last night...didn't find anything overtly offensive, unless GSN is considering Richard Dawson's (I have to distinguish here, since Richard Thomas was on that week) comments about John wearing make-up and going out with the "nice boys" (those were two different comments) to be over the line.

Or have we determined that all skipped eps are because of gay references?  Gene did make a reference to "Mary Running Nose, the Indian princess".

Aside from that, it was a pretty boring episode.

Edited to say that including that, it was a pretty boring episode.

Someone posted this on GSN's boards.  Maybe it's true, maybe it isn't...

I remember GSN showing MG 73 in 1998 when they brought back the GT shows following the Dark Period. At the time GSN did run episode #7, and I remember that they were having technical difficulties running that episode. During that time, they had MG 73 replays at night, but instead replaying episode #7, they showed ep. #8.

Well, I did notice an obvious edit at the beginning, and they did lose the picture for a couple of seconds in the middle...but I thought there had to be more to it than that.

(My copy is missing the last segment due to the cable system at the time sharing that channel between GSN and a second ABC affiliate, so maybe more difficulties arose then.  Anyone else remember watching this in April 98?)

Yesterday's show was the end of week 6.  Today's show was from week 7, but I don't think it was the first show.  So another episode (or more) may have been skipped here.

Yeah, for some reason, they keep skipping the first three episodes of the Convy, Arnaz, Fabray week. I remember when they were showing MG '73 from the beginning again right after the Dark Period, they showed the first six weeks intact, but then they jumped around a little, eventually settling into very early 1974. When the weekend reruns got around to the seventh week, they skipped the first three episodes, and they skipped them again in 2001. Maybe the tape is missing...?

Makes sense.  From what we know, the Digibeta format GSN uses contains three episodes per tape.

A single episode from week 10 was also skipped.

Since they are showing the '73 episodes, I am looking forward to seeing the ones that showed Judy Carne which was were also the first ones to show Bill Daily.
