Game Show Perils on eBay

To quote Matt Ottinger's sig:

"Game Show Peril #38: Searching for Bill Cullen items on Ebay, I'm getting very tired of seeing some Irish tycoon's book about penny apples keep popping up."

Quite so.

What other interesting (or annoying) things have popped up when you were searching for game show-related items on eBay?

Tom Kennedy:  an old-time comic actor and a drummer

Jack Barry:  a baseball player from way back and, of course, Woody Allen's Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex (but that is our Jack Barry)

Chuck Woolery:  besides finding his sunglasses and fishing lures, always be sure to search for him as "Chuck Wollery" as well

Johnny Olsen (or Olson):  gay wrestling videos (!)

I searched for "Wheel of Fortune" once, and got both excited and confused when I saw "Wheel of Fortune card game" in the listings...only to find it was something about Magic: The Gathering instead.

Also, as Matt notes on his website, there is an old game called "Dealer's Choice" which seems to pop up on eBay quite frequently, yet has nothing to do with the old casino game show of the same name--the home game for that show was called "Place Your Bets."

On an off-topic, but somewhat related note...anyone check out http://www.bobbarker.com lately?

"Top Secret" brings up that inane role playing game from TSR.
That stupid banana museum's been mentioned before.

We have a restaurant practically next door to the house called Bad Guys Pizza, and they sell the actual Bob Barker prison clothes in their gift area. A big sign..later amended after dozens of questions from guys like me...says "Not a costume! Official prison wear made by Bob Barker!" with a picture of a con in a cell moaning, "No, not that Bob Barker.."  I could see Bob sinking some money into a company like that as an investment...after all, ain't no chance of prisons going out of business....

I'm sure any GS fan who's tried to search for Randy West memorabilia on eBay can express similar sentiments. :-)

Speaking of Barker, I'm surprised no one has mentioned Bubba's T shirt on "Survivor" yet--the Perfesser says it's from the Fun and Games live shows Barker used to do in the 70s and 80s.

Since he got voted off, we won't see it again--will he wear it on the reunion show?  :)

There is a photo of the Survivor cast with the Barker shirt hanging on a hallway at Television City.

Since I don't watch Survivor did he mention Barker at all during his time on the show?
Enjoy lots and lots of backstage TPIR photos and other fun stuff here. And yes, I did park in Syd Vinnedge's parking spot at CBS

Going back to the original question, a search for "Peter Marshall" will yield as many references to the early 20th century religious figure as it will to the game show host and actor.
This has been another installment of Matt Ottinger's Masters of the Obvious.
Stay tuned for all the obsessive-compulsive fun of Words Have Meanings.
