In honor of the 20th anniversary of the premiere of possibly the greatest game show in the history of the televised medium, Time Machine...

http://www.classicgameshows.com/

Call it tv-gameshows.com Junior.  This time, it's not going down, at least until my credit card gets declined.

Enjoy!

Welcome back, Mike. Man, I watch this old TPiR, and only one comment comes to mind:

Holy God, was Dennis James a piss-poor host. Bad. Horrible. Patrick Wayne-bad.

Oddly enough, the tape date on the Dennis James ep of TPiR is the same day when CBS unveiled Gambit, TPiR, and the Jokers Wild!

I have to concur.
"Nothing shaking...unless your shaking popcorn"? Good grief....not to mention I felt like he talked to everyone like a child.

I actually kinda liked him...although that popcorn comment was bizzare.  As for talking to people like a child...well, the show had only aired one episode when this thing was taped, so people didn't really know what they were getting into yet.  Maybe that's an excuse, maybe it isn't; I really don't know, since the earliest episode I've seen aside from this is from November of '72.

Empty seats!!!! Did you see them? There were empty seats in that audience. Fat chance of that happening today.

Anybody remember Jiffy Pop Popcorn?  It was on a skillet thing and you would put it on the stove and shake it until it started popping within the aluminum foil cover?  I thought Dennis did a fine job hosting.
Let's Make a Deal was the first show to air on Buzzr. 6/1/15 8PM.

I know no one else probably will say it, or liked the show for that matter, but god bless you for Paranoia.

We should remember..Dennis had been at this over 20 years..possible that a 1952 hosting style didnt work as well in 1972..

3 posts at the exact same time?..wonder how often that happens

That may be the best assesment.

I remeber that Ira Skutch spoke w/ tvgameshows.net in 2003. Referring to James, he said something like 'there was no way Dennis would have lasted that long. He was never very good at it.'

Mike

Thank you for bringing back "tv-gs Jr."  - the cues from TnPiR bring back a lot of memories from being a kid.

Love the return of the Hit Man section, plus the promotional pics.  Those are real rarities...especially considering that one has a GREEN player who DID make it to the second round! ;-)

Yup, people looked at their tickets and said "Dennis James? No thanks." ;)
