[quote name=\'sshuffield70\' date=\'Feb 8 2005, 04:44 PM\']I'm responding to BB since I know he's one of my regulars:

One of the ones you should have is the remaster that our own John Chartier (Skynet 74) made  a couple of years ago.  I was very impressed with his work that I've made it available when possible (obviously, not now since the site still hasn't come back up yet.)  It was the closest to the real thing available at the time.  Now we have one that I believe (after listening) is it.  I'll make both available ASAP.

Apparently, I don't have a copy of the ticket plug (I thought I did.....no, really!)  I'm gonna go get it.  As usual, Casey, a bang up job of finding stuff.

I was told by a trader that that one was one he had run across before, and it "didn't sound right to his ears." I've never traded with him since. (I wasn't mad, I guess it was a coincidence.)

I believe this is the copy I have--if so, I sent it to Casey today.

Actually, to clarify some misconceptions:

There were two versions of the MG7x main theme out there before last night: the version John Chartier made (which was the actual TV version), and the edit I made from the GSN CD. While my edit was better sounding, it wasn't as authentic as the real version. Still, I did a pretty damn good job on that edit...

I admit. Your edit was good. The 16 second to 24 second section was incorrect. It made an "uumph" sound instead of the correct "wank" sound. It was also the incorrect length.

I had a copy of the theme that was authentic and I knew it to be... it just wasn't in very good quality (quite a bit of hiss... same amount of hiss in everyone's old copies of the MG think cues and ticket plug).

On a whim, I set my Windows Media Player at 1.008 (slowed to correct the pitch?) and played Casey's edit simultaneously with 80stvthemes.com's version (which is supposed to be from a CBS master).  They mesh up damn near perfect.  The sequence of "wanks" and "uumphs" is wank-wank-wank-uumph-wank-wank, which kinda sounds like fun right about now.

I've only skimmed quickly through this thread, so I might have misinterpreted some of the posts. As it seems there have been homebrew edits, if there is any question about which version of the main theme is accurate, I have that original McKenzie tape from CBS 33. Let me know if a comparison is needed.

I suspect luck had very little to do with it. :)

Anyone see him hosting that Super Bowl vs. The World commercial special last wknd? He should get an Emmy for that compelling hour of television. :-D
