Ah yes, another great pic from the Westbrook collection.  I thought the set looked smaller on TV.
Let's Make a Deal was the first show to air on Buzzr. 6/1/15 8PM.

I noticed the pic of Rod Roddy on "Hit Man" that he was selling. Very interesting stuff.

And I LOVED that P+ picture, too.
There are three things I've learned never to discuss with people: Religion, politics, and the proper wrapping of microphone cables.

Yeah, these are nifty pictures, but they sure as hell aren't $26 bones each nifty.

But I don't begrudge Fred. I only wish I had a virtually limitless way to separate fools from their money. :)

Chris, I know you worked master control for a while.  Back in the late '70's, when I worked in master control, we had these slides which would accompany booth announcer copy for various shows.  By the early '80's the slides had been replaced by video promos.  In the traffic mgr's office were hundreds of old promo slides.  Where they are now is a mystery, but I could probably get some quick cash on Ebay if they were to be sold.  You should check your station's archives for free stuff nobody wants.

I did? Oddly enough, I have no recollection of those three months. It's like I went to sleep in April and woke up in August. :)

You're right, there is prolly a bunch of stuff, but since I am at this moment sitting 918 miles away from said station (damn, Google Maps is cool), the riches contained therein shall have to remain a mystery. :)

Cool pic.  The set didn't look that big to me.

BTW, I did master control work for over 5 years in the 90s.  Small world!  Also directed a local high school quiz show a couple years ago.  That was a lot of fun.

About this thread, very nice picture.  Under normal circumstances, I can't justify almost $30 for a single photo.  On the other hand,32 photos, 9 slides, and advertising material for $31 is a different matter.  Scans of most of the items in this auction will be on a website near you soon, and not necessarily mine.

Speaking of that Hit Man pic, is it me, or does Rod look much slimmer in that pic?

I'll be particularly interested in seeing the information regarding his work on Wonderama in 1955.

Wow how many master control / ex master control operators do we have here? I am currently an operator for a local station in Canada. Sadly, our last game show was aired during the early 90s, and has never been seen again. I haven't even seen it in the archives, which we through out a lot of last year sadly.

Could it be that Sonny Fox and JD Roth are the same person?  Was "Big John, Little John" actually Sonny's true story?  Have you ever seen Sonny and JD in the same room together?

Some of those pictures (including the "Password Plus" pic) were shown on GSN's "Game TV" years ago.  Fred was a regular guest - usually appearing each Friday - and for the first couple of weeks brought a lot of those photos that they ran through during his visits.  After about the third week, they started focusing on just one show that GSN had on their regular schedule during each of those visits.  I remember seeing that "Password Plus" picture and being surprised at how big the set was.

I think what makes the set appear as big as it is is the illusion we have when watching the show that the walls with the Password Puzzle and Alphabetics boards on them are perpendicular to the game desk, when in fact they sit more at 45-degree angles. We're expecting it to be smaller, so when it's not, we're surprised.
