Maybe on the number of pricing games?

I liked reading it in any event.

I caught that error as well.  They also referred to the newest pricing game as "Loose Change", as opposed to its correct name, "Pocket Change"

Ya know... This is the second article in a matter of days that has referred to Pocket Change as "Loose Change". One appeared in the Philly newspaper.

Plus, the most common error of them all, referring to the Showcases as Showcase Showdown.

The error that jumped out at me was the part where they said about people finding themselves on the "Showcase Showdown", guessing prices..

Whoever mentioned the number of games is also right -- they say 96; it's actually 99.  I can understand not knowing that, but if they're gonna go for a specific number, you'd think they'd at least try for the right one.

Strangely enough, they got the number of active games exactly right -- at least if you count Penny Ante and Time is Money.

What about "No. 1 for 33 years?"  "MG" was the top-rated daytime game for most of the 70s.

And Match Game was succeeded at No. 1 by Family Feud.

But that error calling the Showcase the "Showcase Showdown" really irks me every time I see it.  I am reminded of a college professor many moons ago who was a big Jeopardy fan (fine) and dismissed The Price is Right as "crap" (heresy, sacrelige).  He was droning on and on about how he didn't get why TPiR was so popular, and said (exact quote, I'll never forget it):

"What is it they do with that big wheel....Wheelies?"

The whole class, in unison, said "WHEELIES?"

And he was a journalism professor at that.  Hope he did more research into his writing than he did when forming his opinion of game shows.

Could this be an error as well?

...No. 1 syndicated evening game show, "Wheel of Fortune."
Is "Jeopadry!" still number one or has "Wheel" reclaimed the throne?

It's been a few months since Ken was defeated. "Wheel's" back.

As much as I would like to give everyone here the satisfaction, no.  :)

I did, however, think that my "Radio and Television Broadcasting" textbook was cool because it had the script and blocking to Match Game PM in it as a class exercise.

To be honest, I think TPiR only had one season in the 70s at #1, and I THINK it was 79-80. So that's what, six months at #1? :-)

I think it's been the #1 game show since '79,  but I think you're right.
