Here's a fact that very few may not remember, except for those who lived here in Southern California: Geoff was host of the highly-successful "Mid-Morning LA" on I believe channel 9 in the 1980s along with the late Meredith MacRae, and if I remember he was among the last hosts to do it too. Bob Hilton hosted it prior to Geoff's arrival.

I will have to look this fact up... but Geoff won an award for his hosting of "Mid Morning LA".

Among other things, Geoff has hosted state pageants, had a great career on radio (mostly on KMPC), is an avid World traveler, video arcade game nut, and an all-around nice guy who has seen just about everything not only in game shows, but in television and radio as well.

Of all the game shows he enjoyed hosting, from the conversations I had with Geoff in the past, his personal favorites were "Jackpot" and "Treasure Hunt".

Only a few viewers would miss the lack of a studio audience. The applause dubs were pretty obvious, and someone should have been laughing during the Geoff-and-Rod bits at the end of each show.

As he told it, the reason they didn't have a laugh track was simple--producer/director Lucien "Lou" Albert had no sense of humor and wouldn't know when to cue it. Or so Geoff said.

(Something that was accused of Charley Douglass, the inventor of the "Laff Box" used on untold numbers of TV shows--although a member of his family wrote to me when I did an obit for TV Barn and said that Mr. Douglass did have a very good sense of humor.)

At the you-know-what I do the news and NFL stuff as well. See I have a life outside of game shows. Also not to make anybody squemish but I also read bios on serial killers. Sorry but that's true!
