Yeah, it did. Someone had a video clip not to long ago when some gameshow hosts dropped by...Marc Summers and someone else....and they went on a spiel...."Why have a Talkabout game when you can have a Double Dare game?"  The next host proceeded to plug his item in front of the other two.

The somebody else, IIRC, was Geoff Edwards, and a copy of Jackpot from 1975!

On a technical note, I'll add Balderdash into the mix.

Why 'technical'?  It's not a version of the program's game (that would be silly, I think), but John still said that contestants win a selection of Mattel board games, including the most current version of Balderdash.

It counts, all the way.

And Jack Narz plugged the BTC home game on the late-60s syndie version.

IIRC, the contents of the box were identical in every edition of the MB game ... only the stunts changed.

I am positive Bob Barker promoted the home game in 1977 om CBS. I got one for Christams although I was too young for it.

I wanted it for Christams because I saw Bob show it off on tv.

There were two editions of the MB BTC game, and the first one had six small wood blocks that were missing from the second edition (the three foam sponge green cubes were present in both editions, I think).

An interesting sidelight about the large stunt cards:  when MB had a surplus of these left over after the game ended production, they cut them up into smaller slabs that were used as backing for the rubber-banded MB bucks in other games.  One of these ended up supporting the $100 and $500 bills in an Operation game that two boys I knew from past holiday get-togethers got as a Christmas gift in 1975.

MB also found a new use for the plastic shopping carts from their Supermarket Sweep game:  one apiece ended up in all their copies of Feeley Meeley as one of the items kids tried to feel for.  In a reversal of this trend, the plastic covers that they used in Eye Guess had previously been part of an old '50s game, Pivot, not based on a TV show.

Scattergories plugged the Scattergories board game. Did any of the other game shows based on board games plug the associated game?

Acutally, the home version of B-Dash that was plugged on the show had 5 of the actual categories that were used on the show (Peculiar People/Marvelous Movies/Laughable Laws/Incredible Initials/Weird Words) -- unlike the earlier B-Dash games, which just had the weird words category.  The latest version can easily be played like the TV game, if you had at least 6 people.

Nonetheless, you are right.  The game was plugged -- case closed!

I've played both Vanilla Balderdash, and the Beyond version...I think I prefer the one with just the words.  I was never good at making up acronym names, but the definitions thing is loads o' fun.

I was curious if any loyal watchers of Eye Guess, may have seen an episode late in the series run, with its updated format.  An acquaintance of mine says he has seen an episode, featuring Bill Cullen plugging an updated board game, using the show's new format, used in its last few months.

I've never seen an episode of that format, nor such a box game.  I also wondered if a model was added to the show during that time, or if the announcer (Jack Clark or Don Pardo) appearred on-stage, since one of my television history books described the winner (under the new format), being "escorted to the Eye Guess Risk Board."

Remind us please, how was the updated format different? Just the bonus round, right?
