5) What are you the umpire who calls foul balls behind home plate homeruns? The set looks fine as is.

Hear, hear. I really like the set, and I don't understand why people complain so much about it- did they really expect them to pull dawson's set out of the trash and use it?

Well, why not?  They did it the first time.

Which sets up my pending stupid question...for the CBS run of Feud, did they reconstruct the set from the original blueprints and such or did they literally use parts of the ABC set?  I mean I've heard in the instances of when 10K Pyramid went from CBS to ABC, they had to completely recreate the Pyramid set and such.

Which brings up my not-so-stupid question: why was it necessary to quote not one, not two, but three messages to ask a question about the FF set? Get your parka ready, and make it a heavy one.

The answer (without having to quote any prior messages in their entirety) is that the original FF set was stored outdoors on the old ABC Prospect lot where the wood warped slightly. How those Ferranti-Packard readouts survived the outdoors and were able to run reliably at CBS, I don't know.

I apologize again...force of habit...ya think the overquoting is bad here...try looking at the quote city on the board I post more readily on, TVNewsTalk.Net.  Hey, the dingbats (much like some of you dingbats) over there get to me sometimes with page long quotes.  That and sometimes my posts are made when I'm not fully awake.  Someone hit me with some sugar.

The Invision software isn't configurable enough for us to be able to shut off message quoting (what a surprise!), but we do have the ability to take away a member's ability to reply to posts. That goes for everyone, not just you.

It's worse at MySpace.  Not so much how often people overquote, but the dimensions are such that a post with a fourth-generation quote looks like a skyscraper.
Protecting idiots from themselves just leads to more idiots.

Yet it comes off, Christopher, as if you have such an agenda against me (sorry that we all can't be as perfect as you)...if that's the worst thing I do, then stone me...there are far worse posters on this board that have done far worse things, my honorable colleague.  Here's an idea...let's talk about game shows and as Ross Shafer says "sweat the small stuff".

[quote name=\'FOXSportsFan\' date=\'Aug 5 2005, 06:29 AM\']Hey, my Spanish teacher from high school still has some McDonald's gazpacho from her trip to Spain in mint condition from a few years ago.  Will that suffice?  LOL.

I imagine if I ate that, a lot more than just lemonade would come out of my bum. :)

McPacho? Interesting. I'm reminded of my reaction when McDonalds started selling soup, including McChowdah.

And you're new, so some friendly advice: The last person who copped at attitude when Chris told someone to cut it the hell out is now trying to run a competing message board whose entire userbase consists of idiots and rejects who have mostly been forcibly disinvited from posting here.

Just sayin'.

CL, my Spanish teacher was a nut job...she's like 50 years old but dressed like she was 20 years younger at times.  I guess when in Spain do like...you do at home...and go to McDonalds?  Yeah anyway, she was cool though and everything...hey she let me host a Spanish version of Let's Make a Deal.  Then, again it paled in comparison to the Senior Class English versions of Hollywood Squares and Family Feud (where the ladies actually let me kiss them).

I appreciate the friendly advice...I mean I'm a sarcastic, cynical, SOB (kinda like you Mr. Lemon, and I mean that in the nicest possible way believe it or not)...but I'm also one of the nicest guys around.  But, when someone goes off about me about things that in the great scheme of being mean not a damn thing, I call it as I see it (that play by play announcing trait of mine), and try to make them comprende how stupid and petty the notion is.  I'm sure he means well, and I'm going to try not to overquote, but God help me when I do...he'll try to send me to the Thousand Dollar Bee lounge.

Back on topic: anyone have a clue if a legit Philadelphia station will pick up the Binford Feud this season?

Most of the people who have done far worse things have been banned.

If overquoting is such "small stuff" then it's not too much to ask you to stop doing it, is it?

Trust me -- the directive was not targeted only at you.  I've seen many others do it and have edited it out from time to time (do a search for "Massive Overquoting Deleted" and you'll see a few examples), but I'm getting sick of doing it.  Others have been warned about it as well; you're just the first who's complained when asked to stop.

We're far less anal about bandwidth than we used to be, but this is hardly an unreasonable request.

What's being asked of you and others is basic netiquette.  Trimming the quoted portions of a reply out of respect to others is hardly brain surgery.  Remember, you're a guest using a free service, paid for and provided by both Chris, Matt, and chopped liver, er, Dave.  You might wanna remove the parenthetical portion of the above post, if not wiping out the entire post.

As I previously said on this board, confronting a moderator always ends up with the aggressor losing.  I've met Chris.  He's a nice guy who doesn't hold petty grudges.  You have vastly overreacted to this situation.

Thanks Mike for the input...and yeah you're prolly right in some respect.  Again, a mere difference in boards which I tend to go back and forth from leaves the occasional mental lapse.  Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to cue up the VCR for Monty Python at 4 on BBC America...they're finally showing the Parrot sketch again, WOO HOO!

Well, except, when wearing a moderator hat, Matt, Chris, and David's "great scheme of being" HAS to be isolated to this board, and they would be doing themselves and us a great disservice if they approached it any other way. And in the microcosm of this board, massive amounts of overquoting is a pretty big offense, it's the equivalent of the guy in your meeting at work who prattles ON AND ON AND ON and just won't shut up so that someone else can get a word in.

So as one PBP announcer to another, cut 'em some slack, huh? I dont always agree with them, either, but I do step back and look at the big picture (another trait you would do well to incorporate into your PBP) and try to understand why they make the calls they do.
