On October 15th, GSN's going to air two color episodes, including I've Got a Secret and Beat the Clock, featuring Louis Nye.  From my site, here are the episode...

3AM- I've Got a Secret (Host: Steve Allen)- 1964 (Color)- Bess Myerson, Betsy Palmer, Bill Cullen, and Henry Morgan

3:30AM- Beat the Clock (Host: Jack Narz)- 1972 (Color)- Louis Nye will be a celebrity panelist

Has GSN shown the 60s-era IGAS in color before?  I had always thought that the 60s-era IGAS only existed in kinescope format.

EDIT:  I guess Mark and I have the same inquiring mind (and that could be illegal in seven states).

I don't know if IGAS was even in color back in '64.

Count on a kinescope, folks...

"I've Got a Secret" first went to color in the fall of 1966, for its final season - as did "What's My Line" and "To Tell the Truth".  However, "What's My Line" experimented with a special color episode I believe around 1955.  I guess it's possible "IGAS" might have done one too, but GSN's never aired one from that era in color before.

I'm about 100% positive that the IGAS listing is a typo.

The ep in question is from 11/23/64, and GSN has shown it previously, sourced from a B&W kinescope. As was mentioned further up in the thread, the show didn't shift to color tape until September of 1966.

Still nice to dream, though...

I think the '72 BTC ep will be an interesting treat. When was the last time GSN aired this?

Not counting the Bob Denver tribute, hasn't it been about 3 or 4 years? I think it was on weekend mornings.

Narz/Wood BtC last held a weekend slot post from April 1998 through sometime in 1999. Whether the Nye ep. aired then I do not know. Last time that version of BtC had a daily berth on the schedule was pre-Dark Period (October 1997).

That slot was all-Gene Wood (and they never got out of his first season, I believe).

I honestly had no idea who Louis Nye was (showing my age, perhaps?) and then I recognized him once I saw a photo.

The only place I remember seeing him was an episode of the Cosby Show in which he played a gentleman who won the Squash Competition that Claire was in.

ObGameShow: Cosby hosted the 1992 "You Bet Your Life".

I've also been told that the Narz set consisted of a blue set with some kind of red on the right with big red and orange dots, the orange cash board and an orange clock, the Wood set had a white wall with multi-colored olympic-esque rings with a blue clock and a red cash board, and uncamark is right about even though the syndicated BtC was seen on the regular basis, ever since October 1997, we only see Jack Narz on very rare occasions.

All you need to know is---

Narz: Blue set, red clock
Wood: White set, blue clock

But still, almost nothing he said has to do with this post [as usual].

On topic, though, I've only heard the name Louis Nye---never seen his work. Looking forward to seeing this.
