Somehow, I think "$25,000 Pyramid" just has a better ring to it.

But wouldn't they have to change the title of the show every day? :-)

Or better yet, the title of the show would be changing on its own while Dick would be talking. :)

This could work.

So long as it's sponsored by Comcast.  :)

Actually, I think they meant to put $50715.89, which is what the Inflation Calculator at http://westegg.com/inflation/ returns when you convert $25,000 from 1982 to 2005.

Couldn't they just round it off to the $50,000 Pyramid? ;-)

Um, analyzing the joke too much, maybe, but not WHOOSH. He's pointing out that they screwed up their "exact" figure, and making a reference to the $50K Pyramid.

No. Whooosh. It's okay if the figure isn't exact. The whole point of this type of humor, and what makes it funny, is EXAGGERATION.

NO, it's an overanalysis. No WHOOSH necessary in this case, IMO.

This is silly. Why are we arguing over something so petty? And we wonder why we have problems...

I shall drop it.

For the record, I know exectly what their point was, and where the humor is dervied, and I knew I was gonna get WHOOSHed by someone for mentioning such an inane fact.
I was really just pointing out their presumed source for the figure, and the fact that a realistic inflation-adjusted game show prize value would be $50,000, not implying that the photo was intended to be realistic in any fashion.

The only reason I ever stick my foot in the door for things like this is usually some piddling, barely related point--in this case, upholding the definition of "whooosh".

A nitpick that has no bearing on a joke's humor is still a nitpick, and not a missing of the joke.
